As the baseball season ramps up I like to start kickball. We start out with slightly modified rules for easier play and advance to a more complicated playing style by the end of the unit. This unit is often a student favorite and we generally play it for three weeks.

Our candy runs will be all mixed up for the next two weeks. Some classes have already finished there runs while others won’t start until the week of the 23rd.

We are starting a Volleyball unit in PE. The first few classes we are going to focus on basics: Serving, passing, and setting. Then we will play with a beach ball for a class and then with a regular size but softer than usual ball for a few classses.

We are starting a Badminton unit. This week we will practice hitting the Birdie with a partner, with the goal of keeping the shuttlecock aloft for as long as possible. We then will play Badmintonsketball, a made up mix of badminton and basketball. We will round out this unit with some one on one and two on two games of badminton.

All classes are starting Basketball this month as we transition from outdoor games to indoor activties for the winter. We are also adding in a strength training component to our PE time together. This consists of squats, push-ups, wall sits, core strengthening, and other exercises to work out major muscle groups.
